Government Approves Weekend Flight Increase for Farnborough Airport

The Government has allowed the planning appeal by TAG to increase the number of flights at Farnborough Airport at weekends and Bank Holidays.

The decision by the Secretaries of State for Communities and Local Government and Transport to give TAG planning consent for 5000 weekend and Bank Holiday movements a year, overturns a decision by Rushmoor Borough Council to refuse permission in June 2006.

Territorial Army - Centenary Parade - 5th April

The Territorial Army (TA)

The Territorial Army (TA) in Surrey will launch its county celebrations for TA100 - the centenary of the Territorial Army - with a special parade through Guildford High Street on Saturday 5 April.

Residents, visitors and workers in the town centre will be able to watch around 200 Territorial soldiers march in the parade together with The Princess of Wales' Royal Regiment (3 PWRR) Kohima Band and Corps of Drums.

Horrendous weather fails to dampen enthusiasm

Some said it was the worst weather in the 27-year history of the Fleet Half Marathon. In any case, there were scenes reminiscent of a Glastonbury summer but after three years of superb weather it was time for some rain and mud. However, runners and supporters around the course turned out to make the 2008 ASICS Fleet Pre-London Half Marathon a special occasion.
